Manicure & Pedicure?
Some artists will mention that the babies have had their "first manicure and pedicure", which is totally incorrect. While a newborn's freshly cut nails may have a whitish tip.....this is not done by painting a "manicure" on the hands. Due to the process of the baby being in utero and surrounding fluid, their nails are very flimsy and soft. Although they may be long and need cutting in order to prevent them from scratching their face, upon cutting, the nail clippers mainly "crimp" the nails , thus leaving a whitish line upon the nail.
Due to Reborn Artists wanting to mimic, as close as possible, the realism of a real baby, we paint the nails to look as if they have been clipped. If done properly, they should NOT be a bright white and have a gloss to them. Their nails should be a very subtle transparent off white color.
